CAD/CAM Improves Tool-Path Engine That Controls Tool Load to Maximize Productivity

Industry Roundup: New Products & Services

Surfware Inc., the developer of SURFCAM® CAD/CAM systems, has announced that it will be launching SURFCAM Velocity® 4 CAD/CAM this September. The Velocity 4 package offers major improvements in its 3-axis finishing and 4- and 5-axis machining capabilities, and in TrueMill® tool-path technology.

TrueMill is the only tool-path engine that controls the load on the tool to increase productivity significantly—more than doubling it in some cases—and to extend tool life for all materials, including aluminium, steels, titanium, Inconel, and other exotics. With TrueMill, the more difficult the material is to machine, the greater the competitive advantage.

Enhancements in 3-axis finishing include new high-speed machining strategies that feature faster processing, rapid motions of reduced length, tapered-tool support, improved surface finish, and more. For 4- and 5-axis machining, Velocity 4 introduces precise control over every aspect of multiaxis machining, ensuring safe tool motion in the most challenging applications. It also provides support for all standard tools with collision checking, collision avoidance, tool-path containment, and other features.

The latest version of Velocity provides the recommended TrueMill speeds and feeds, improved feed rates, greatly reduced rapid motions, and custom-designed TrueMill-series tools that provide optimize performance with True-Mill. The release resolves issues that had previously limited TrueMill’s performance.
